Pen, my wife – and Kit – that’s me – welcome your interest and enquiries about life at the Huerta. Previous guests have included yogis, meditation groups and artists, bird watchers, walkers and horse riders trekking up river, students on school excursion. People stay for days or weeks.

You can get to us very easily. If you want a change and to get out of the city you can arrive on a Friday morning, and be back on Monday. It’s a real break and easy to do. The Andalucian Weekend.

We can accommodate 8 to 10 people, here’s how.

 

Food
We cater, flexibly and deliciously,to comply with the diets of our guests. Home cooking can be a fusion of Moroccan and Andaluz cuisine. For those who want to detox, we can cater a stunning raw food regime. Dinner is served on one of the terraces, or under the canopy of a Caidale tent in the garden.
The River Yurt and the Walnut Yurt
These two gorgeous yurts have wooden floors, insect netting, comfy mattresses, bedding and are Moroccan styled. Each sleeps 4/5 people.

Double bedroom

Annexed to the house is a double bedroom, ideal for teachers or group leaders.

Shower and Loos

Annexed to the house are shower room facilities. There is also a great outside shower and loo, finished with river stones and eucalyptus walls.

The House

We have three large terraces for group work, dining and relaxing. We have a Moroccan Caidale tent for further outdoor space.


The Sauna

Recently built, we offer a wood fuelled log sauna, followed by cooling off in the river

To Stimulate

Locally there is a myriad of health therapies available, shiatsu, yoga, meditation and massage. We have table tennis and volleyball, river walks and bathing.

We can organise a wonderful trip to Chefchaouen, Morocco, where you can experience the magic of Moroccan life with us.

Caring for the Environment

The Genal Valley is very precious, we do our best to preserve it. We recycle, we use solar power, we drink water from the spring and use water from the river in the house. If you would like to know more, please call us.

Travel

Malaga Airport is and hour and half drive, Gibralter is 50 minutes drive

(La Huerta is 30 minutes from the Motorway junction, with a 4 km track through the valley to us.)

You can arrive under your own steam, or we can collect from Gibralter or Malaga. Most guests hire a car at the airport.
